Those of us with particularly good hearing will be aware of the very high-pitched noise which many TVs emit, especially when they are switched on but the screen is black. The frequency of this tone is around 15.5 KHz and is determined by the scan rate of the television.

Ultrasonic pest control products are already on the market. They emit pulses of ultrasound with a frequency around 32 to 62 KHz which rodents find very irritating.

Most computer screens can be set to run at a variety of resolutions and refresh rates. What if a computer screen could be set to generate the precise 32 to 62 KHz sounds which have the power to drive mice and other pests away?

The Rodent Repellent Screensaver does exactly this! While you are not using your PC, the screensaver changes the resolution and refresh rate of your computer monitor and alternates between a blank screen and a white screen to create the necessary pulses of ultrasound.
