I watched, mesmerised, as two unblinking eyes in a flattened hood above writhing coils of scaly malevolence stared at me with rapt attention. As I swayed, so did they.

Finally, I plucked up the courage to look into the basket, seeing a plaited length of stout hemp rope, a small electric motor and some circuitry hooked up to a motion sensor.

It was cleverly painted but a fake.

What a silly thing to leave sitting in a crowded shopping mall!

So the invention is a fake cobra?
MaxwellBuchanan, Jan 31 2014

This is so they can put real cobras in your shopping bags.

I'd rather have one in my garage.

Don't get it. Please supply links for cultural context. Thanks in advance. (not my [-])

I think we all need something.

Yeah.... funniest story. See, I was taking my niece to her belly dancing class and who should we bump in to at the mall. Exactly. My wife.

Well, it's a fake cobra, spelled similarly to a Repo Decoy but probably a lot more useful and relevant as an art installation.
