There is an ongoing debate whether combat sports contests should be scored by the round (usually by 3 judges: more on that later), or as a whole.
I propose a judging panel of 5 for individual rounds, with a live secure survey onsite and via the interweb to establish the overall consensus winner.
If
they do not agree we go to the video and the individual round breakdowns by judge. It is not common but sometimes a judge on a 3-judge panel will somehow see a completely different fight than the other 2, and differ as well with the consensus of commentators and spectators. Happens. (See the link for a professional breakdown of a very close high-level fight.)
Video is already used to verify fouls and often the ref has a camera on his safety glasses. Live commentators and judges don't see the fight the same way online viewers do, with super coverage from multiple ringside cameramen and by overhead cams. We will see force measuring gloves and physical monitoring of contestants in transparent ways that will make scoring and tracking infractions much easier.
