The BorgCo shredder stove is an efficient way of cheaply heating a residence.

The unit consists of a powerful crosscut shredder suspended over a large (200 litre) storage drum.

From the drum, an auger transports shredded material to a combustion chamber where it is burnt at high temperature in a fan-assisted airstream.

Ash is ejected from the base of the chamber by another auger. Combustion products are vented to the outside.

The unit can be used for direct heating, or indirect heating of water or spaces.

It will burn just about anything in the way of paper, cardboard, or packaging waste.

They are dried on the special rack over the stove until crispy, then fed into the shredder.

We much keep in mind that the Borg have their own agenda, and do long-term thinking. Therefore it can be important to point out possible long-term problems with an Idea they post.

In this case there is the issue that the ecologically responsible thing to do is to recycle the types of waste being suggested here for burning. Note we already have Global Warming, which means it will soon be more important to cool dwellings than to warm them....

Actually, no. As with plastics, it's more efficient to recover the energy by burning than to recycle. That would be still be true even if global warming (a quaint old term - now amended to "climate change" to cover any possible weather event) weren't utter bollocks.
