SimGenetic

Simgenetic, a game where you control evolution

Similar to Simcity, except that in this game you grow humans instead of just cities. The setting is 2020, and mankind is on the brink of controlling his own DNA. In this futuristic world, you control how your Sims experiment in genetic engineering and watch the results.

Want a supermodel race? Crank up the good-looking meter and watch your Sims turn into Brad Pitts and Nicole Kidmans. Turn it up too high though, and your Sims spends every last dime at Versace and sits all day staring in the mirror. How about a super smart race? Crank up the intelligence meter and your Sims turn into Stephen Hawkings and Albert Einsteins. Turn it up too high though, and your Sims have a hard time standing up from the size of their heads and eventually die out from a lack of procreation.

The game would have some strategy too. For instance, aliens could attack their planet and the player would need to boost aggressiveness and send Sims off to fight. Or, maybe the ozone layer finally goes away and you have to create a mole-like race that lives underground.

Anyway, the ending is the best part. Play the game just right, and you create this super society with heightened awareness, the game freezes, and a message comes on the screen real slow, just like in the matrix:

"Hi. It's me. I know you're out there. I thought I should call and let you know how things stand. I know you're real proud of this world you've built, the way it works, all the nice little rules and such, but I've got some bad news. I've decided to make a few changes." -Matrix

Then poof, your computer crashes and the game is over.

Heh... I like the idea of the ending, at least.

Maybe a cat could just, say, come along, disappear, then show up again first?

Or just convert all the pretty pictures on screen into strings of letters/numbers/characters, as per the "display" of the matrix as Neo sees it at the end?

(Now, that would be worth playing...)

I have to say I don't get the Matrix tie-in. Maybe you end up with a 'Fire Starter' or a 'Universal Soldier' or a [PeterSealy], but Neo?

Does it have to be humans or could it be more primitive life forms like slugs that evolve into amphibian birds or something?
