Recently in the UK, some little plastic wrist bands that support charities have become extremely popular amongst young people, and seen as a fashion item. Why not charities cash in on this success by selling shopping bags with the charities logo in a corner and a cool design on it, and whenever you
go to certain shops with this bag, a small amount of money will go to the charity.
This could work, seeing that it would lessen the need for plastic bags (good for the evironment), charities would gain money (goes to a worthy cause), and people would be happy in the knowledge that they're doing something good for the envirnment and for charity (good for the soul, not that I believe in it...).
The bags could be monitored using a barcode on a part of the fabric, which you swipe at the counter with your goods, and this avoids the problem of copies.
Get one in all the styles!!

The really weird thing is that these wrist straps (which look something like the ones you get in hospital, or so I'm told) have become so popular that there is now a thriving black market of people producing fake charity wrist bands. [+] |

Yeah, but in my experience, that sort of stuff falls to bits after a little while. I bought some faux designer shoes while I was in Spain one year, and they melted while I was walking on the pavement, so I had to walk home without any shoes on (ouchies!). |

Here (Michigan, US) most kids are wearing as many as 20 of these bands! They started out with the Lance Armstrong yellow cancer band. See link. Now they have breast cancer, support our troops, and tons of company sponsered ones. (Nike for example). |

It got to the point where stores couldn't keep them in stock and the only way to buy them was over the internet. |

But they aren't any use after they go out of fashion, and when they do, what will happen? They'll get thrown away. I wanted to make something that would last, and not cause any uneccessary rubbish, and if people keep using the bag often, it becomes a habit, and not as many people would need to use plastic bags. |
