"Never Again" Repository

Many programs come up with various styles of message that ask you something, and offer you the chance to save your option as the default for every future occurence.

Presumably ticking this box can be undone, but I am always rather reticent to click it, as I don't like the idea of never again being able to find a particular setting.

Hence I propose a central computer repository of such settings. The dialogue appears as normal, but you can tick that box safe in the knowledge that, if you have doubts in the future, you can go to the repository and find the program's entry, where you will be able to revisit the original box and change your option, or simply untick that box.

Hurrah for indecision!

Reticent vs. reluctant http://www.worldwid....org/qa/qa-ret2.htm
"If a person is reluctant, he’s unwilling to do something; if reticent, he’s unwilling to speak. ... Eventually, however, exclusive association with speech was abandoned. Now one can be reticent to do anything." [Texticle, Nov 08 2007]

Annotation:

I approve of the idea - I hope I can find the repository when I need it :)

p.s. it's "Reluctant" or "Hesitant", not "reticent".

pps. I thought. Apparently the dictionary now allows "reticent" to mean "reluctant".

So much the worse for the dictionary.

I'm plagued with computer programs that give me a "Never show this again" box which keeps popping up no matter how many times I check the radio-button.

I'm looking for an OS-level "Never again let any program ask me if I want to install Google Toolbar" option. It's bundled with so many things these days that it's getting tricky to avoid.
