A small box that sits on top of your stove that has a built in fan and a sensor. When you put your spoon under it the fan automaticly blows on it , to cool it off. The deluxe model could have digital temperature settings or a counter for those watching their diet.

Am I missing something? Is there a new diet in which a person can eat only so much *hot* food, or are we 'counting' something else?

Gives calorie counting a whole new meaning.

Personally, I just keep my tasting spoon in a jug of cold water. There are possibilities here, though, but I don't think you're thinking big enough. I'd prefer some modification to the actual spoon; perhaps a Peltier device embedded in the bowl?

I'm interested that [PeterSealy]'s stove hood fan has a 'blow' setting. Why would anyone want to blow outside air onto their cooking food?

[angel] to cool it down of course!

How about a double ended spoon with a highly miniturised heat pump in the handle. One end is a tasting spoon (or swizzle stick) the other a heated ice cream scoop (or branding iron). (adapt to taste)
