I've noticed that when i have to do an soldering, i need 3 hands. If i had a soldering gun, then i only need 2 hands, which i have. Just heat and squirt. Couldn't be easier.
Of cource you would need a retractable tip (to heat your soldering joints) that would retract when you pull the triger to release
the solder. I think it could work.

For a good solder joint, the item to be soldered should be hotter than the solder itself. Laws of thermodynamics would seem to make it difficult to get such a result with a solder gun. |

Build it with double triggers. One controls a flame tip that heats up the joint. The other trigger helps ooze warm solder onto the joint. Good for pipe...not so good for boards. |
