sympathetic taser

Taser with Sympathy

This Taser has a built in hand detector that ensures that it can only be fired by someone not wearing gloves.

The Taser, when fired will, in the usual fashion, deliver a debilitating electrical pulse to the perpetrator. This Taser will deliver a similar size pulse to the user thus alerting the user to the kind of duress the perp is made to suffer.

When the perp recovers and says 'That was awful governor!' the user can say, with hand on heart 'I know mate, I know!' and thus become great friends.

Chief constable gets tasered http://news.bbc.co....chester/4650645.stm
Wouldn't you love to get into work one day and be told "Your first job for today is to taser your boss"? [Wrongfellow, Dec 08 2010]

//forced to undergo tasing as part of their training anyway. //

       But clearly not enough.

I can feel the love inherent in this concept. I am reminded of the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." If this reciprocal doing were automatic and reflexive rather than voluntary I think it would be easier to follow the teachings of Christ. Full points.

//If this reciprocal doing were automatic and reflexive rather than voluntary I think it would be easier to follow the teachings of Christ.//

ie, as long as we didn't have to voluntarily do anything good, the world would be a better place?

Anyway, I couldn't hack the loincloth and beard. Or the general goodness, for that matter.

Don't sell yourself short on the loincloth front, Max. Or the back.

It's not the look that I don't get on with. It's the chafing.

       Try talcum powder ?

       /Try talcum powder/

You have to apply it pretty thick to get the same coverage as a loincloth.

In [MB]'s case, a light dusting is no doubt more than adequate.

I had to get tazed before recieving certification to carry a tazer for good ol' uncle sam. It was the worse 5 seconds of my life.

The certifacate provides a few lines for the tazee to express his/her opinion of the ordeal. Mine reads: "Double Plus Ungood."
MikeD, Dec 10 2010

Repeated use of this device would surely cause the user to hesitate, involuntarily, before pulling the trigger, maybe even be unable to fire the taser at all. Might be advantageous in very esoteric circumstances, but potential purchasers would normally view it as a bug, not a feature.

//"Double Plus Ungood"// Double plus good.

//cause the user to hesitate, involuntarily, before pulling the trigger//

That, and there is shit you are supposed to be doing while the perp is being tazed.

This would make it hard to subdue and secure the perp, possibly requiring the user to taze him another time or two.

//Repeated use of this device would surely cause the user to hesitate, involuntarily, before pulling the trigger//

For this reason alone, I think this is good to have in place before tazers become ubiquitous and disgruntled people start becoming tazer-happy. It's much easier to indiscriminately inflict pain when none if it is coming back to you. But if you are going to get shocked in the process, you are more likely to think it over and consider whether this person is really bad enough to pull the trigger.

you raise some really good points about the usefulness of weapons. Sadly, however I feel that you are both wrong. Given enough exposure the sadist usually shows some degree of masochism and vice/versa.
