While trudging 220km of the Camino de Santiago last week, I walked between the rain worn adobe houses between Burgos and Leon. Build from mud bricks, adobe houses generally last for about 75 to 100 years, and are usually in a state of roundedness.

It crossed my mind that brown house-shaped soaps, gradually wearing down like the houses themselves, would be a nice reminder of the trip.

Also, after trudging 220km across Spain, soap is lovely.

Gardener's Clay Soap http://www.leevalle...cat=2,42551&p=51891
It isn't Spanish, it isn't house-shaped, and it isn't exactly adobe, but clay soap can also be very nice and comes close to filling the bill. [jurist, Apr 04 2006]

It's a castle made of soap...and some other things http://www.soapshap...products.php?cat=11

+ I love this idea, as we tend to bring home 'reminders' of our trips that aren't as useful as this...and in such an artsy way.

Consumables make for great momentos of a trip. Everything else requires storage space and dusting. Pastry.

The soap should have pumice and straw in it, so you can have that textural rememberence as well.

Or maybe you could build an adobe out of mud-brick-shaped soap...?

Ahhhh.   Awww.   Nice. Could come in cactus, desert flower, even tequila scented versions.
