Baked and Consumed

For the Dazed and Confused

Been Baked and Consumed for so long it's not true.
Wanted to fishbone, I can't bargain for two.
Lots of people 'bake and few of them know,
soul of a fishbone was created below.

You're hurt and abused smellin' all those fisheyes.
Search around new 'baker, bored, how they hypnotize.
Now look here 'baker, It's Mark'd For D-letion.
Post it again, 'baker, here it comes again.

Every day I 'bake so hard, drivin' home my hard learned say
Try to help you 'baker, but you push me away.
Don't know where you're goin', only know just where you've been,
Look 'round here 'baker, didn't search again.

Been baked and consumed for so long, it's not true.
Wanted to fishbone, I can't bargain for two.
Take it easy 'baker, let them say what they will.
Will fishbones weigh so much when ground into the swill?

kudos to Led Zep

       //kudos to Led Zep//
Originally by the Yardbirds. (I have a video clip of them performing it.)
Croissant to you, anyway.

       Why do flames suddenly appear
Every time, I come here?
Unlike me, ‘wax ain’t gonna be
Fishboned too!

There's a man who's secure in his rock songs of old
And he's writing a parody of Zeppelin.
And when he gets done he knows, if the scores be juxtaposed
Undeterred, he can get what he came for.

woah oh oh oh oh oh
And he's writing a parody of Zeppelin.

There's a line in the song that doesn't want to rhyme at all
And you know misheard lyrics need screening
In the 'bakery, if you look, recent newbies can cook
Sometimes all our bones are misgiven.

       Oooooooooh... makes me wonder...
Oooooooooh... makes me wonder...

There's a feeling I get on the 'Great Equalizer Test'
And my spirit is crying for laughing.
In my thoughts I have seen rings of cheese and all the best
And the Voices in the Head Caller ID.

       Ooooooooh... makes me wonder...
Ooooooooh... makes me wonder...

And it's whispered that soon, if we all write a tune
Then the bakesperson will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the 'bakery will echo with laughter

Woah oh oh oh oh oh
And it makes me wonder

If there's a tussle among your annos,
Don't be alarmed now
It's just a spring cleaning for the site queen

Yes there are three ways you can vote by
but in the long run
There's still time for a croissant roll

       And it makes me wonder
woooh oh...

Your head is humming and it won't go because you don't know
The writer's calling you to join them
Dear newbies can't you hear the wind blow and did you know
Your parody lies on the whispering wind

       (Funky Gas-Powered Instrumental Part)

And as we find our own abode
Our anno's longer than our posts
There walks a lady we all know
Who draws great pics and wants to show
How moderators knead the dough
And if you listen very hard
The way will come to you at last
When all are one and one is all
To be a baker and not to troll...

Woah oh oh oh oh oh
and he's writing a parody of Zeppelin.

I figured there'd be reference to prior art - the actual original version is by Jake Holmes - his rendition was a folkier blues, and as a great many a blues recording - spooky - Jakes lyrics are what the Yardbirds w/Jimmy Page heard and saw (where they were blown away by the performance), then played with changes to the arrangement, but not the lyrics. Incidentally, that Jake Holmes album is fetching more than a few bucks in collector circles. I don't see a further need to get into all the finer points of "I'm Confused" by the Yardbirds.
However...
The substantial change to lyrics came by way of Led Zep. Jake Holmes didn't get the songwriting credit, though - Jimmy Page took it. That said, "kudos to Led Zep" refers to lyrics as performed by Led Zeppelin, not Holmes, not The Yardbirds, and are the lyrics upon which this is based.

OK, all that accepted. Please mentally amend my anno to "Popularised by..." (At least in UK. Blues was pretty much unheard of until the Yardbirds and some of their contemporaries.)
It's also worth noting that much of Zep's early stuff, credited to Page, is blatantly stolen from the old blues masters.

That's absolute truth there - they, perhaps more than any other band of renown, were the most blatant at "covering" songs in more ways than one. They'd cover the author's name with their own.

Muddy Waters and Otis Spann made their first trip to England in 1958, where Muddy's electric guitar horrified hmmmm, sedate Britishers more used to the folksy homilies of Big Bill Broonzy, not Chicago Blues. (Chagrined by the response, Waters paid tribute to Broonzy with a solid LP of Broonzy's tunes the next year.)
But some weren't horrified. Certainly not Alexis Korner or Cyril Davies - 2 "early" British Blues Mentors, from there it stepped up to John Mayall and Graham Bond, then the early leanings of The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, The Animals, The Kinks, Manfred Mann, The Pretty Things, Them, Spencer Davis Group, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Peter Green, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin... all of whom influenced their own listeners.
Were it not for bands such as these, I'd likely not have appreciated Blues like I do now (100+ albums), nor would I have the opportunity to have communicated with the still-living James Cotton (what a thrill) and David Honeyboy Edwards (The last of Robert Johnson's contemporaries).

With apologies to, well, everyone really. Blame it on 'Bubba!

Why do flames suddenly appear,
Every time I come here?
Just like me, you’re gonna be
Fishboned too.

It’s a rant, the regulars all cry.
My ideas never fly.
Just like me, you’re gonna be
Fishboned too.

From the anno’s drenched in scorn,
I’m making heavy weather
Of seeing other bakers’ point of view.
I Google each night until my eyes are sore
But still I haven’t got a clue.

Though I change my login name around,
Admins know. They’re like hounds.
So like me, you’re gonna be
Locked out too.

From the anno’s drenched in scorn,
I’m making heavy weather
Of seeing other bakers’ point of view.
“You should do a halfbaked search!” they all implore.
It’s work I’m not prepared to do.

That’s why flames, suddenly appear
Every time I come here.
Rant, WIBNI, Energy for free,
And You Too.
Just like me, you’re gonna be
Fishboned too.

That one needs its own entry.

Too much of Kentucky's finest. For the life of me I can not figure out which Zep song is the match of Dr. Bob's.

I was amazed to find out how much Led Zeppelin borrowed, but like the Stones, would anyone know of the source unless it was popularized? Possibly the original source becomes more popular from the borrowing?
