During a power outage, your plumbing still works. :)
Basically, a small device that you would clamp onto your tap, so that it hangs like a small basket underneath. When you turn the faucet on, the water passes over a small paddle-wheel, and generates enough electricity to power a small appliance
bulb.
So, if the power's out, and you have to take a dump, just walk into the bathroom, turn the faucet on, and whammo -- You don't have to take a shit in the dark.

Try candles. Pretend it's your birthday. |

I have my own well with a pump. No electricity, no water. Of course I could feed part of the power back into the water pump to keep it going, but then my neighbors would complain that I violate some laws of physics. |

What's wrong with taking a shit in the dark? It's not like I
have to aim or anything... |

I shower in the dark every so often. Quite relaxing, indeed. |

Last time I showered in the dark, I got an elbow in the eye. |

this would be a better idea if it was a small light that illuminated the tap, so that if you were getting a drink at night you wouldn't have to turn on the blinding bathroom lights. |
