You are green, yet not that rich. Also, "smart houses" need a new trick to be interesting.

At the pacific northwest of the USA they have Blue Sky(tm) Electrical utility options. The utility acquires as much energy as you use from renewable sources.

A sensor, possibly at a light bulb, could look for transparent stickers on appliances, then up the amount of blue sky energy at just the amount that the appliance uses, on average.

This gives the ability to acquire a green fridge, air conditioner or other item piece by piece. Eventually most of the dwelling uses renewable energy.

The transparent sticker could use UV or IR codes printed on what to humans appears as a transparent sticker, the person just sticks the sticker on their new appliance, or even pre-owned appliances. this kind of Greens all appliances. Feeling brave? Use it on the existing baseboard.

Blue Sky energy at the entire dwelling is not that popular, it is possible that doing it one appliance at a time might be beneficial

       That's alright, you're not alone.

So a sticker that somehow transforms a light bulb into a green energy pirate?
RayfordSteele, Feb 02 2017

My problem is that I have a short intention span.
MaxwellBuchanan, Feb 02 2017

Perhaps, but just like that line about a man's legs needing to be long enough to reach the ground, your intention span bridges the gap between the two points of any given [beanangel] posting - Or, as they say, " Mind the gap ".

Of course, part of the problem is that the gap may have been mined.
