Burning Food Detector

The good thing about frying stuff is that you can stand there pushing the food round the pan whilst you're cooking it and so keep yourself occupied. The bad thing about it is that it's not as healthy as using the grill. Sadly, however, the grill isn't very interesting to watch so I invariably wander off and do something else in the meantime, with obvious results.

The inclusion of a photo-electric cell, attached to an alarm, in the ceiling of the grill which could detect the changing level of reflection from the food (as it turns from a tempting golden-brown to charcoal black) would enable me to wander off safe in the knowledge that dinner would be perfectly cooked every time (instead of every second or third time).
