This laptop is encased in a precision-hewn piece of slate, the type used for chalkboards in the classrooms of old.
Not only does the surface resemble a cool, matte, round-edged monolith, it can also accept the application of chalk should the need to take a quick note arise, or to continue to perform
calculations after the battery runs out.
Peripherals include set of 5 coloured chalks and a fabric board-rubber.

I propose "One Slate Per Child". They'll be far more useful than laptops in regions with no electrical power or Internet access. |

I've used that chalkboard paint before, it works pretty well. Someone with a laptop should try this. :) |

I think this is a great idea [+]. A laptop made out of one of
those magnetic-powder writing thingies (you know...) would
have a lot of appeal too. |

Here's hoping you have a way to make it shatter-proof. Slate is incredibly brittle. Chalkboard paint would be better. |

Laptops are the reason that most schools went away from chalkboards in the first place. The dust is killer. |
