Cyborg Effect Wrist Watch
Wrist watch band matches skin, gives appearance that flesh has been cut open to reveal a watch is inside the arm
Inspired by the scene in Terminator 2 where Arnold
flesh from his arm to reveal his cyborg robot skeleton
This watch band would have a high resolution color print of
actual skin to appear to be part of the wearer's arm. A one
inch cut in the band is
being pulled open, perhaps by
underneath to reveal tubes, wires, electronics and all the
other things you'd expect to see underneath the organic
skin of a cyborg trying to pass itself off as human.
One of the mechanical / electronic parts you'd see revealed
would be a digital readout which happens to tell the time.

||The idea likely does not already exist because matching
fleshtone to a mass market is quite difficult. Also because
the watch would always appear above the surface of the
arm rather than inside.
||Matching healthy smooth skin is difficult, but I think we should be able to disguise the transition somewhat based on the supposed damage to the skin. The original description that looks like there is no band would be cool, but very hard to hide the band, so I was thinking that the band needs to look like a C shaped metal strap around the bottom of the wrist with hooks on the ends to hold open the "hole" on top of the wrist. Where the hooks pull back the "skin", it bunches up, thereby correctly being above the surface of the real skin. The the watch display can be very thin because the battery can be placed inside the lump of the pulled back "skin", so that fact that it is above the real skin surface will be less noticable. The skin that is bunched up will have wrinkles etc, creating shadows and making a slight mismatch in skin tone less noticable. I think the transition from watch to real skin can be disguised partially as the last of these wrinkles. On the sides of the watch, where the watch band it not pulling back the "skin", the apparent hole should probably come to a point. That area may be somewhat more difficult to disuise, but a bit of blood-stain or apparent scab with a slightly irregular shape may maintain the illusion, at least for the first impression. Proper application of hair on the watch would also help the transition for those with significant hair on their wrists.
||There would still need to be quite a variety to match many skin colors, arm hair colors and arm hair densities, though perhaps if they all came with a lot of "arm hair", in a variaety of lengths, the end user could pluck the long hairs and/or the short hairs to get a reasonable match. A skin coloring kit might allow reducing the number of models even more.
||Call me boring and old fashioned, but it doesn't actually have to be a working watch in the skin, it just has to look like a working watch.
||I'm thinking uv dye outline of numerals like an old style digital watch on the wrist and some way to selectively shine a uv light onto the right bits of it it, so that is shows the right time. Google glass with a uv emitter should do the trick.
