A continuous stream of fuel is sprayed into the
combustion
chamber over a glow plug into the small end of a cone,
the
large end being the speaker output. The modulation is
added
by the injection of varying amounts of oxygen into the
ignited
stream of fuel. You could also modulate the
volume of
the
fuel stream being blown into the oxygen
mixture/ignition
chamber. You could also do both if necessary.
The drawback is you'd have to re-fuel it from time to
time
but you'd be able to move a lot of air and make a very
very
loud speaker.
Think of it as a V1 buzzbomb playing music, because
that's essentially what it would be.
You could also modulate the ignition spark.
The closest thing

This would dovetail very nicely with a large Steampunk stereo. The whole assembly could be enjoyed from a reinforced underground bunker miles from Ground Zero. I like it! [+] |

If you wish to modulate the volume/pressure of injected
fuel (as
stated), it's not a constant stream, it's a variable stream. |
|
|
Agreed. Changed accordingly to accomodate the second method of adding modulation. |

My pedantular gland thanks you. |

Just realized this is an external combustion device, not internal. |

If I ever build one of these, the first song I'll play on it will be Brahms's Lullaby. This will privide mirth and merriment for all. Or just me, not the neighbors so much. |

Pure coincidence, last night I watched a show called
"Outrageous Acts Of Science" where the guy had a
speaker system in his car that could shred
phonebooks and shatter glass. (see link) |

The line between subwoofer and anti-personel

Corrected. Please forgive this terrible oversight. In the
rush to war we sometimes forget to fire the ceremonial
opening shot. |

My pedantular gland thanks you as well, m'lud. |

Watching the video, very Darwin Awards |

Addendum: Modulate the ignition spark as well. |

You all have heard about plasma speakers right? Magnets next to plasma cause it to wiggle, making sound. |

Link or it doesn't exist. (hope it does) |

They're a thing : try Wikipedia (and check out the links section for a long list of DIY projects) |
