       I'm pretty sure that palatability is a survival advantage - there are more chickens in the world than humans (and, indeed, than any other species of bird).   

       If there were a McPanda restaurant chain, they'd have those things breeding faster than rabbits in no time.

       Ah, see they taught us in school that the American Buffalo had been hunted to extinction and that the buffalo nowadays is imported bison.
