Fancy dress funeral

Brighten up what could be an otherwise gloomy affair.

The thought of being swept out of this mortal coil to the sounds of wailing and weeping are too depressing to bare. So why not leave them laughing and have a fancy dress funeral. If you were a trecky in your mortal existence why not instruct all mourners to dress as Captain Spock, if you were into gardening they should all dress up as Alan Titchmarsh. I myself am a humanist and want my funeral in a church where there will be a £1000 prize for the best dressed disciple.

Ghanese coffins. http://www.artsonth...fantasycoffins.html
People's coffins are shaped like something important to them in their life, often brightly painted. They're very beautiful, and would serve well to set a theme for the fancy dress parade. [jutta, Nov 22 2004]

Difficult one this, but if the right people are there it could go down well. The last funeral I went to was very emotional but ended in a good wake. People knew she wanted a great goodbye party, and she got one. [+]

PS I would really like a congregation dressed as Chewbacca.

I think this is a good idea, and am aware of one funeral that was somewhat like this. I think it would come down to the personality and wishes of the deceased. If it was what they wanted, i can't see why it would be a problem at all.
A wedding would be good too, because then the couple would get to experience the spectacle.

This is cute; like those "sort of smutty" birthday cards people laugh at but are too mortified to actually give at parties.
