When posting a new idea, would it be possible for "Category" to be a mandatory field that doesn't default to any category, but instead insists on one being actively chosen? By all means keep "Other: General" for genuinely genre-bending ideas, but I can't see an idea in it at the moment that couldn't
find a home elsewhere in the 'Bakery.

That's what the moderators are for. ;) |

I'm sure the moderators have better things to do with their time than tidy up after newbies, lazy people, and the forgetful. |

//you too// Are you suggesting I should be deleted, Doc? :,-( |

no, he's not, friendlyfire <g> |

There, is that any clearer? |

[DrCurry] Yes, much, thanks. I wasn't so much trying to say, "Do it like this, dammit!" as suggesting a way that the user would naturally end up doing it like that. Prevention being better than cure, and such. |

I dunno - poorly communicated (and, having read Steve DeGroof's anno on "Make default category NOT other: general", redundant) ideas, misconstruing well established terms - I'm really riding the newbiecycle today. Perhaps I need sleep. |

[ff] Wrong category. Consider other: general. |

LOL, and touché, Worldgineer. |

Maybe HCVOESC. Short for hot chestnut vendors on every street corner. |

//I too once thought that a "you too" was a call to delete me, as well as my shit idea.// It was. *snicker* |

You mean other people didn't have to take polka lessons? |
|
|
Rods_, the decatorisation of which you speak has happened to me several times. Almost like the ideas migrated to other:general of their own volition. |

reensure: if any at all, it would have been a Darwinian thing anyway. |
