The good Halfbakers all agree to put the political, angry, or Trump obsessed based posts in this category. Totally voluntary when anybody tags it [MCP]: "Marked Controversial Post".
Total free speech zone but with fair warning:

Let's make this site about fun ideas again without stifling free speech.
Replace the never successful [MFD] with the actually useful [MCP].
Then we all agree to respect the [MCP] if somebody posts it and move it to this category, even if they disagree.
They're not being silenced, they're free to speak their mind, but those who might not want to hear it will be warned. If I don't want to hear about Donald Trump twenty times a day, I won't click it.
Hey, if this is controversial and this category gets created, please. Feel free to mark it [MCP]. I'll gladly be the first to voluntarily quarantine an idea.
And I, doctorremulac3, hearby pledge to move any idea I post for any idea of mine tagged: [MCP] given simply because it upsets somebody, that's reason enough.
So if I post "Candy bars shaped like lightning bolts" and somebody gets triggered, I move it, no questions asked.
Downside: Ugh. I'm afraid this would quickly become the most trafficked category on the site.
"Hmm, what's that rumbling I hear? Bonestorm a comin.'"

Although anyone can ignore specific individuals or topics at their own choice, it would be a convenience if you or other gave a nod to that ... " I know this will trigger some people so I'll set it off to the side." May not even need a new category created, there might already be one that's close enough to serve this purpose. |

Thank you a1. If this was implemented I really would pledge to basically “Take it outside fellas” without question. I mean, why not? You’re expressing yourself but people who don’t want to hear it don’t have to. Of course it’s a gentleman’s agreement so it could be abused too but I don’t think that would happen here. |

I've been avoiding posting because I don't want to pull the site into political rant land and I also want to be able to speak freely. If there were a place I could post my political rants (maybe a setting for comments to be so marked and optionally by each poster hidden) I would be posting a lot more. [+] |

There's another approach I put up some 14 years ago, just having the HB Field Of Honor, where you challenge the guy but take it outside to the other post. |
