One of the problems with rechargeable battery toothbrushes is that they don't last very long before they need recharging. The motion they use though does clean your teeth better than using an ordinary toothbrush.

So, this idea uses a hand exerciser (a sort of springy thing you grip - stop laughing at the back there - see link) to provide power, which is converted into the fast rotary motion like that used in rechargeable battery toothbrushes.

How about this type of power source? Post it as a new idea... [phoenix, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 21 2004]

Not the same thing at all, although the patent is for sale. It does suggest a mechanism for your device, though. [DrCurry, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 21 2004]

Ha. This is the kind of idea we should be promoting.

Um. Are you overlooking the good, old fashioned, hand-powered toothbrush (used effectively), or just trying to be funny...?

       What's next, the hand-powered chainsaw?
DrCurry, May 30 2004

Just try to make that old fashioned hand-powered toothbrush do that rotary motion.

       or a hand powered spoon.

       Still, good one.
