Buoyancy is provided by the two catamaran hulls.

If a battery in the cargo hold shorts out and starts to exhibit signs of thermal runaway, an emergency hatch opens and dumps the offending
electric vehicle (only) into the ocean.
A chain reaction is thereby prevented, and the ship does not sink.
