Jamie Oliver soup

Dishes made from vat-grown famous chef tissue

Take a tissue sample from a famous chef or cook, grow it in a vat and make food from it. So Jamie Oliver soup, Gordon Ramsay black pudding and Nigella Lawson ice cream, for example. In fact, the last two are possible without any vats - just give Nigella some prolactin or get Gordon to donate some blood.

The food would of course be zero-rated.

Even if Mr. Oliver or Her Nigellanesse were elegantly filleted and nicely cooked, I'd hesitate a little before tucking in. So why would I want to eat cultured cells or bodily fluids from them?
MaxwellBuchanan, Apr 08 2013

Well, i would personally agree with you [MB] but i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of veggies would like to eat or drink Ramsay's blood and as for gulab jamun made from Ms Lawson's breastmilk, i very strongly suspect demand would easily outstrip supply in certain circles, though not the ones in which i move i hasten to add.

Sorry, but this is a recipe.
xandram, Apr 08 2013

Definitely disagree, because it's not specific. It's a principle by which ingredients can be selected but that's not the same as a recipe. Is my "Eat Yourself" a recipe? If this is fairly MFD'd, so should that be.
nineteenthly, Apr 09 2013

well then it's an "eat people who do <x>". I think "eat yourself" had the bonus of getting exactly what your specific body requires (though that's probably bullshit).
FlyingToaster, Apr 09 2013

OK [19thly] - I'll remove it, but it sure seems like a recipe to me.
1. take a tissue sample = ingredients
2. grow it in a vat = processing
3. make food from it = food. viola-recipe.

By that standard, building a car could be called a recipe.
RayfordSteele, Apr 09 2013

OK thanks [xandram]. The human black pudding idea Magnus Pyke's dad had was a recipe, as is the breastmilk ice cream allegedly sold in Covent Garden, but this is more specific. I now want to suggest building a car out of bones.
nineteenthly, Apr 09 2013

Building a car is a *recipe* but it isn't food. The Flintstones have already built a car using some bones.

Is your link supposed to be a blank page [ytk]?

Replaced the link with one that works reliably.

//"well then it's an "eat people who do <x>"."//

Something is missing: It should be "well then it's an 'eat people who do <x>' because <y>."

Not seeing the benefit from eating cloned celebrity tissue.
whlanteigne, Apr 14 2013

Don't really see why there should be a benefit as such. However, it needn't be cloned. Maybe raise money for charities connected to food in some way by selling donated tissue or substances. That would be beneficial.
nineteenthly, Apr 14 2013

I would have to see some great benefit if I'm to be induced to violate civilized laws and cultural taboos. This would be, essentially, cannibalism.
whlanteigne, Apr 14 2013

There's a company in california trying to do that with celebrity stem cells, although they're planning on making salami, not soup.

[nineteenthly], I can't believe this was your idea. I missed this before. Wow. Rather interesting and gross at the same time. Good un.
