Lovibond for Coffee

Standardised colour scale for coffee similar to the Lovibond scale for beer

Related to "Coffee Coloured Mugs" I think we need a standardised colour scale for milk in coffee (& tea for the tea drinkers). Beer colour has been traditionally measured on a Lovibond scale (see link to picture).

With the implementation of a coffee colour scale you would be able to ask for a white coffee with #6.

<obscure reference> I don't think that Mr. Howell would approve if we had to hug his wife just for a cup 'o joe. </obscure reference>

I would argue that Starbuck's success (getting, for instance, even New Yorkers to pay $3 extra and wait ten minutes more for a 50¢ cup of coffee) is entirely due to the fact that your order is filled exactly the same way in any outlet you go into, a guarantee of coffee predictability that people will gladly pay a premium for.

At Tim Horton's you have a machine that measures the amount of cream or sugar for each size. We pour milk though, so that's a bit more variable.
