all right, i admit that i usually carry around pockets and pockets full of junk, gadgets, and miscellaneous tools. so much so that a normal pair of jeans just doesn't have the pockets. even cargo pants are hard pressed.

macgyverwear™, for the discerning tinker. designed to carry nearly every doodad that you might require. pockets for multitools, rolls of duct tape, chewing gum. these pants can handle it all. made of a durable canvas, these pants are nearly tear resistant, and have the added fire retardant properties of nomex.

different lines of pants could be focused around certain specialties. for example, there would be the standard hammer loop or paintbrush pocket, but then there could be more exotic pockets for things like clamp-on ammeters. geeks could use space for mice, batteries, styli, torx bits. for the paranoid, there could also be conductive pockets for use in radio jamming. those rfid tags won't be a security risk if no one can read them.

macgyverwear™ also comes in custom configurations for those who like to mix and match their configurations. (i.e. multimeter and a keyboard pocket or pockets for ham radio and flare gun.

for those who want the widest selection of useful odds and ends, pants are available prestocked with all kinds of random refuse, such as gum wrappers, old ball point pens, and bits of string.

macgyverwear™ is not responsible to damage to clothing washing machines due to absent minded individuals who forget to empty their !@$#^* pockets.

Annotation:

       Every gadget you could need? If I recall, our dear friend Angus only carried a swiss army knife, a waterproof match, some chewing gum and a bit of duct tape. Everything else was found locally.

       Aside from the pre-packed part, articles of clothing with numerous pockets are quite baked.

       But I like it anyway. [+]

       [Freefall] i realize that there are pants with numerous pockets, but they don't seem to cut it. what i'm going for here is a pair of pants with copious amounts of pockets.

       note: mac was able to make due with whatever was around, but i've never been that lucky. because of that, i keep my own gear handy.

       I greatly dislike MacGyver. But that isn't what worries me here: //these pants are nearly tear resistant// ?

       //tear resistant//

       Geeks like us tend to cry when in high-stress situations.

       sorry, an early edit mangled that sentence. should be //nearly tear proof\\.

       i doubt that macgyver would be in the same swimming pool [bubba]. however, kevlar doesn't bend terribly well. is borosilicate a good armor material? i can't see it as being malleable, anything too brittle would just shear.

       hey [jutta], i have actually seen people wearing those. i am not a fan of shorts as they don't protect my shins, and utilikilts fail in that regard as well.

       From the FAQ: "No can do Amigo. Our design is mathmatical. It is not conducive to matching plaid. Besides, it defies the purpose of the Utilikilt. You spend $700-$1500 on some fine wool tartan, that's fine... Our objective is to give you something practical and liberating while you're out there in the world f#%king shit up!"
Seems they know their limits.
