A normal rolling mouse, save for that its ball is replaced by a magnetic ball-bearing.
The internal wheels are metal instead of that foamy/plastic stuff, so they'll still turn despite the smoothness of the ball bearing because the magnet will also stick to them.
Should be smoother.
Comes
with a free metal mouse-pad in case you're afraid you'll lose your new accessory. Addon, as was forgotten earlier: this will also ensure rolling action on the surface.
(?) Mice with metal balls.

This will collect tiny ferrous particles, inside the mouse, since I'd use it to pick up paper clips, tacks, etc. Maybe I could use a co-worker's mouse for that. |
how many tiny ferrous particles are there on the average desk? mines just full of dust, cat hair and cheese sandwich. +1 pseudy |

I think modern-day processed cheese is comprised of 30% iron filings. |

The cheese carries a terrible curse. |
Then there's Swiss Army cheese with bullet holes. |
Pah. People still use those? Get with a program and get an optical mouse. |

jutta, there are few things worse than 'the wrong kind of sticky'. |

wrong kind of sticky and various other wrong kinds of stuff, buggar up the UK rail network every day. |

We need to get away from the mechanized mouse.
Optical Mice have no moving parts.
They are getting cheaper... |
do you get a sachet of grease with the mouse? |
Just don't get your mouse too close to the CRT monitor. Or your floppy disks. Or your hard drive. |

evilmathgenius, you just explained why i gave this half-baked idea the fishbone. |

Could you have hidden coils in your puter desk so that as you wiped your magnetic mouse across you generate megawatts or thereabouts |
