Modular Tyres
Sectored tyres which can be replaced when punctured | |
Radially organised tyres with isolated modules that slot in like slices of a cake. When one's punctured, it can be taken out and replaced by another small module, and in fact the vehicle can still be driven with a few missing slices.

If it can be taken out and replaced, why would a puncture matter? How do these "slices of a cake" attach in a manner that stands up to the tire lifestyle? No vote yet ... |

Now I'm hungry. And this black cake is disgusting. |

Yea, thought I had seen these, it's already a thing. (link) |

The ones shown aren't inflatable but think I've seen those too somewhere. If not, bun pending. Eh, I'll pre pay. [+] |

[+] Plus for the deafening noise of each of multiple sections of each tyre striking the road at highway speed, and a double=plus for the hugely deafening noise when a blowout occurs. |

I had a feeling it would be on here somewhere but am more surprised to find it in real life. |

[Normzone], exactly, that's why it's good. |

The whole point of pneumatic tyres is the large air volume in the toroidal enclosure relative to the surface area of the contact patch. The compressability of the containing fluid (pressurised air) combined with the elasticity of the toroidal e=containing enclosure are what gives a smooth ride. Any proposal for a non-toroidal tyre interior such as foam-filled, solid, or sectional tyres misses out on the entire point of the invention. |

Wow! That explanation actually made something seemingly boring like a tire pretty interesting.Well done. |
