PC Speaker Overide

O dear I forgot to turn the speakers on!

I noticed the other day that my PC will chirp at me occasionally even when the speakers are turned off. Mostly when I use the keyboard when I am not supposed to. How about making this overide a configurable option for essential events. Such as mail arriving or warnings. That way I can turn my speakers off or down without worrying about missing key events.

I just wish the internal mixer was a bit cleverer. Why can't we have a fader for each open application that generates audio, and the ability to group them?

Yes, I did an idea like that, wag, called "Mute Program". It appears that such a feature may be present in the next version of Windows (aka "Longhorn") which is still unfortunately far away.
