Don't bother with keyboard shortcuts or extra buttons - just lift and bang the mouse down to re-centre the cursor (on the primary screen, if you have a multiscreen setup).
Being old enough to have been brought up on ball mice this is a natural reaction when the pointer sticks and I now find myself doing this when the cursor disappears, as it seems to quite frequently with optical mice.

"Bang the mouse down" to do anything seems eminently sensible. It may even evolve to double-banging for special functions.

       Brilliant. I love this.

if you use a graphics tablet or possibly some of the earlier optical mice with the special pad, this happends as soon as you lift the mouse (puck) off of the pad (tablet).

Not to be confused with pertussive cursor centering which re-centers the cursor when you cough.

Would software that predicts when there is going to be a problem and corrects it in time be known as a precursor?

I know someone who shouts oaths before anything bad has even happened, he's definitely a precursor.
phundug, Dec 21 2007

If these oaths cannot be printed here, could they be considered percussive?
bungston, Dec 21 2007

       PREcussive?
phoenix, Dec 21 2007

If I get tired of your puns and throw the mouse at you it might be concussive.
