Plane Theme Park Ride

Ride based around the paranoia and claustropobia of being on an aeroplane

OK, it may not be too appropriate post 9/11 but the idea's been floating in my head since before then.

A theme park simulator ride, completely themed around an airport and getting on a plane. Unlike most simulators, the focus would be on the ride vehicle which is made up to look like the inside of part of a standard passenger jet. The plane could pretend to shake and show turbulence. Onto the windows could be projected what one would see if one was really in peril. You could have the captains voice and flight attendants too, screaming and so forth.

I think this would really play on peoples' fears of flying and would not need to be too intense as long as the theming and realism was up to standard. As I say, this is unlikely to ever be built, especially in the US but would be scarier than any rollercoaster. Perhaps too scary.

       Sounds like a disfunctional simulator.

Just plane crazy. I know of a few parks like that already.

       Oh yeah?

Hey, letsbuildafort. Where does such a ride exist? And did it shut for late 2001?

Well, not STRICTLY like this, [kanes] but similar. Every once-in-a-while these folks set up this space shuttle looking motion simulator in our mall and charge folks to sit in front of a large screen, and feel what it would be like to be on the wing of a plane, stunt flying, etc. As for the peril, the brief video presentation (with motion accompaniment) simulates barrel rolls, loops, and other such aerobatic nonsense.

Would there be a (fake, of course) sneaky-looking guy next to you, brandishing a bottle of shampoo that is bigger than 3 ounces? Aaaaaaaaaa!
