Science Journal for i-Couples

A journal, which accepts research papers with creative designs from people in information-theoretic love.

Science has been mostly a pursuit of truth, but in some cases, in addition to scientific rigor, it may be a romantic and playful endeavor of two [or more] people engaging in information-theoretic love.

Generally, regardless of feelings towards each other, the resulting paper, when published in a journal, has to be of standardized, rather sterile format.

An idea is a journal, which accepts research papers with unusual, creative designs and patterns, from people in information- theoretic love.

Hasn't the division between truth and beauty (or the lack thereof, the school of thought to which I subscribe) been the source of scientific and philosophical debate for centuries? How is 'information-theoretic love' any different from a research partnership?
Alterother, Feb 19 2012

How can any kind of love thrive in a sterile environment? And what the heck is information-theoretic love?!
DrCurry, Feb 19 2012

       ^__^ I define information-theoretic love as a state, when f(X U Y) >> f(Y), where f(x) - the measure of the degree of your desire to preserve x, and Y represents "you."

If your desire to preserve the union of {your friend X} and {you} is much greater than your desire to merely preserve {you}, then you're in information-theoretic love with {your friend X}.
Inyuki, Feb 19 2012

       // A side comment:

It could well be the definition of love in general, but since the word "love" is generally used to refer to something defined as "an intense feeling of deep affection," I made up this definition to refer to this more-specific concept.

The idea of the definition is based on the observation that the desire to survive in some form is what we all pursue either consciously or subconsciously, because it was induced by the passing of time, evolution of life, and our propensity to counter entropy (i.e., preserve information).

The word "preserve" in the definition is just another way of saying "let x survive".

This I do not get. The idea is to publish research papers only by people who are in love?

       Why?
MaxwellBuchanan, Feb 19 2012

[MaxwellBuchanan], I don't get why you don't get it. People give birth to babies, build monuments, create songs, and do other crazy stuff to perpetuate certain aspects of their being.
Inyuki, Feb 19 2012

       Yes, so what?

Back to the original question: why publish research papers only by people who are in love?

Why do I want to submit a paper to such a journal?

Why do I want to read such a journal in preference to any other?

What, in short, is the point?
MaxwellBuchanan, Feb 19 2012

       [MaxwellBuchanan],

$ why publish research papers only by people who are in love?
$ -> There is already a plenitude of journals accepting papers from anyone.

$ Why do I want to submit a paper to such a journal?
$ -> Because your paper is unusually styled, e.g., has a colorful background, or intimate patterns, like meadow and some butterflies, or something else of romantic or personal nature, like fragments of personal photographs, unacceptable to traditional journals.

$ Why do I want to read such a journal in preference to any other?
$ -> For instance, to enjoy mathematics as an art in context of art (see link: A Mathematician's Lament)... Or maybe you're just bored, and want some diversification in your mind.

The point is to create something beautiful...
Inyuki, Feb 19 2012

It's the juxtapositioning I don't get. Still, chacun a son quirk.
MaxwellBuchanan, Feb 19 2012

       [MaxwellBuchanan],

thanks for seeing the point. Interestingly, [Alterother] somehow immediately pointed to this "unjuxtaposability" - the division between truth and beauty.
Inyuki, Feb 19 2012

A good place for Einstein-Maric papers.
mouseposture, Feb 19 2012

So the idea is a paper version of internet relationships on discussion boards.
rcarty, Feb 20 2012

[rcarty], except that, unlike in the case of relationships on discussion boards, we don't include all the discussions in a paper, - rather, we put the select thoughts that matter.
Inyuki, Feb 20 2012

That's probably the drawback in most information-theoretic approaches. Only information that is information to the information is accepted as information.

However I like this idea because it addresses major themes that are emerging in the world, especially knowledge production in the post-industrial information age, and how people have basically become the information they are in the process of producing.
rcarty, Feb 20 2012

//people have basically become the information they are in the process of producing//

Mmm... nah. But have you read Professor MacLuhan?
pertinax, Feb 21 2012

Yes - I have, and thats all he is to me, and all you are to me aswell.

Isn't it also the view of information-theoretic psychology.
