As a card-carrying member of the orthodox scientific hegemony, I occasionally find it necessary to suppress ideas that make me uncomfortable, and attempt to muzzle and silence their authors, for fear that if the REAL truth were revealed to the general public via forums such as this, our dominance over what is considered to be scientific "fact" may be threatened.

One of the most powerful weapons we wield in our war of oppression is the "marked for deletion" annotation.

Maintaining our oligarchy would be a lot simpler if such annotations could only be deleted by their author or by the moderator, and not by the original poster of the idea.

Such a mechanism could/would be just as abused as the lack thereof.
