Spiders and other low life, obnoxious bugs tend to inhabit the corners of the room. What if the room had no corners ? Spherical rooms anyone ?

Then *everything* will collect in the bottom, you, the bugs, and all the furniture.

Second thoughts: no, actually, I think I love this idea; provided you come up with some ways to get around the above problem.

its because they are hiding from great hairy long-legged smelly humans. give them a quick way out and they will take it. open a window and provide a ladder out of the bath.

I'd make one room like this, but probably not all of them, too much wasted inbetween space when fitted together.

Some fellow by the name of Roger Dean used to paint lots of fantasy style pictures for bands like Yes, back in the 70s, and one of his designs was actually constructed. It was a house consisting of rounded rooms and passages, with, as far as i remember, no square edges. Ok, it wasn't exactly spherical but had the same effect of having no corners. It was on display one year at the Glastonbury Festie. I had a bit of a wander around and it was fantastic, a bit like a bunch of soap bubbles joined together (whats the collective for soap bubbles? A sud?). . A really comfy, easy-to-be-in space. Apart from all the muddy footprints all over it (muddy year at Glastonbury). Another place I've seen was owned (or excavated) by a chap named 'crocodile harry' who I met in Coober Pedy, Australia, a few years back. He had tunnelled his way into a hillside, creating rooms and living areas as he went. These spaces were then decorated by his visitors. the end result was a completly mental collection of rooms and corridors and bathrooms with not a right angle to be seen. Top bloke and a top house. And finally, theres quite a few people who supply plans or kits to build geodesic domes as homes. Very nice spaces to live in, but some serious thought has to go into interiors. Square furniture doesn't work so well.....

This certainly is a big round room.... Can we coat the entire inner surface of the room with mirror. I've always wanted to see what the reflection would look like if you stand inside this.

There was a legend that the devil liked to hide in corners too, hence the round house in Veryan, Cornwall. (No 48 on link.)
The Eden Project consists of several interlocking geodesic domes, and there are lots of spiders in there. (Not sure about the devil, but I didn't notice him when I was there last.)

You don't need spherical rooms. You simply need rounded corners, which currently exist in some areas where bugs are not a good idea (such as hospital corridors, some gentlemens lavatories). However, people do go and put furniture in such places, introducing those pesky right-angles again.

Your house would be like a big version of one of those McDonald's playhouse things with all the tubs going everywhere and the room things that you can sit in. Will there be a room with a bunch of plastic balls to jump in and throw at people?

Imagine being an unsuspecting bandit who breaks into the house at night, only to find himself falling into a waist-deep room of plastic balls, and by the time he tries to get up the kids are all pelting hmi with plastic!

i thought about having a giant sphere room/ball pit in a dream house... i figured the way to have a sitting area is to make the seats little alcoves in the wall, i guess you could make them with no hard edges also..
