The Day the Music Turned

People wake up to the wrong music

Boy finds out something happened to music which makes it all sound wrong. He goes on a journy and is joined by an old man and a beautiful young girl. All along the background music never fits the scene, and they are determined to find out why.

The ending scene starts off with horror music which gradually changes to a dance in country music, while a morbid funeral is shown on a rainy day. The End.

Here is another reason why the music sounds all wrong https://globalnews....z-conspiracy-music/

Reminded me of https://en.wikipedi...raordinary_Playlist
Another take on using music to look at the etherel human aspects. [wjt, Nov 13 2021]

Same song, different key. https://www.youtube...watch?v=Y-TzB8WewJA
Tangentially relevant. The weirdest bit, once you catch on to it, is the guy staring straight into the camera most of the time. [DrBob, Nov 13 2021]

Wrong soundtrack but... https://www.youtube...watch?v=wgXJD2sdHyM
the contrast serves to accentuate the heaviness of the scene. [doctorremulac3, Nov 13 2021]

Spoiler: turns out, along their route, all the franchise owners with money have terrible taste in music. Like a fried chili box, no water, in an LA desert.

The trick here is that the 'wrong' music still has to be good music. Nobody is going to pay to listen to an hour of Baby Shark.

While this reads rather bizarrely, it’s weird enough to get a croissant from me.

Also, a link about how frequencies change the sound of music. (not related to your idea)

       Thank you all.

Is there a way to search for a link on HB? Because I've seen that video before, and I'm quite sure it was in a link on HB

Intriguing, could be a real comment on current state of social relationships.

       sp. journey.

A journeyman is a craftsman who has learned all they can from their master, but not yet attained mastery themselves. Hence they journey, to expand their experience. It's a late- medieval thing.

It surprises me that this word does not occur more often in descriptions of the plots of films.

Using the wrong music is quite a powerful effect when used sparingly (see Reservoir Dogs*), but I'm not sure that it is sustainable for a whole film. Could be a nice experimental piece though.

* I stole this idea for the ending of one of my D&D campaigns. A city in flames, the Tarrasque running riot & the PCs sailing away to safety whilst all about them was a smoking ruin. Like most D&D campaigns, we never actually got to my carefully planned ending, but I was going to play the linked piece of music by Kevin Brown as the outro.

       What DrBob said.

Best example that comes to mind is the mass hit scene in Breaking Bad (one of the best TV shows in history). See link. Warning, very violent.

Or the aria from the Fifth Element opera.
