(Inspired by [UnaBubba]'s CarouSupermarket... somewhat obtusely.)

Customers are strapped into a roller-coaster car, which takes them on a 200 km/hr circuit of the shop. They can grab items as they go past (not on shelves, of course - maybe stuck to some sort of hanger), and the whole shopping trip is over in a few minutes. Have as many turns as you like in the one session. May not be advisable with bulk-quantity items.

Sort of related... it could even be in the same shopping centre/theme park [Detly, Oct 04 2004, last modified Oct 05 2004]

       What are you - chicken?

Do you get the customers free samples of pizza rolls and bagel bites by launching them at high speed from cannons on the side of the track?
DeathNinja, Aug 12 2003

       Yes! Brilliant idea [DN].

I just remembered, I'm alergic to hurty.

[jutta] - I did briefly consider that, but it was time to go home :P I'm thinking, maybe some sort of shop supplied mitt or glove? Although I dread to think what would happen to a loaf of bread being gloved at 200km/hr.

I just pulled a figure out of a hat, by the way. Maybe I should revise it downwards...

Or upwards for easy guacamole or scrambled eggs.

Jai-alai cestas might be useful, they're made for high speeds.

[Worldgineer] I think it would probably produce more of a meringue like substance.

       [lurch] Jai-whata whats?

This ride would be well-suited to people who want to buy a pair of trousers. Quickly. Feet first.
