Well-Heeled Catwalk

pussy stilettos

The scientific part: What appears to be a female cat’s elbow is really her heel, for a cat is digitigrade, which means she walks on her toes with her heels up.

The silly part: Since she already stands on her eight hind tiptoes as if on high heels, marketing a pair of stilettos to feline owners who enjoy dressing up their pets should be a success. Of course, the heels wouldn’t be real but be made out of a light rubbery material, and the uppers would be airy and elastic. Kitty comfort and frivolous fashion in a purrfect combination.

Have you ever put *anything* on a cat's feet? Hilarious! A sock over the head is fun, too.
phoenix, Jun 10 2004

they would need a matching bag (and two house bricks if I had my way)
etherman, Jun 10 2004

no, i don't do caps either. don't really see the point.
etherman, Jun 10 2004

Wouldn't their front feet now be out of alignment? You might need two more stilettos.
phundug, Jun 10 2004

[phundug] No, the idea is they're already on their toes - just cover them, no heel support.
FarmerJohn, Jun 10 2004

the heels do not have to be rigid. they could be quite soft!
po, Jun 10 2004

By golly, you're right...and also scratched if you try this in real life. They (cats) hate anything that restricts their movement. +

       +, for the pic.

So now we will be inflicting back pain on our pets as well?

Haste makes waste, Pete. Read the idea and annos.
FarmerJohn, Jun 11 2004

Dr Curry from the way i read this idea it's the owner who will suffer when kitty decides to jump into your lap.

[FJ: that was actually an aside commenting on the purpose/effect of high heels on women, not cats. A cat isn't going to wear one of these things more than about five seconds, which I believe was the subtext of phoenix's comment. And we already inflict back pain on our pets (dogs in particular) through breeding.]
DrCurry, Jun 11 2004

OK, I was afraid you were risking your back jumping to conclusions.
