I got ahead of myself. I didn't read the help file carefully (I've read it twice now, as recommended.) I could give you a bunch of excuses explaining why I did so many posts so fast, but I hate making excuses for myself. So lets just leave it at the fact that I was wrong to post so many quarter-baked ideas at such a high rate. This is a noob's realization of his status as such. All my [m-f-d] posts pretty much deserve it, and I'm not contesting any of them in the least.

All in all, I think I'll wait a bit before I hit 'new' again.

(Note: Yes, I read the part where it said to avoid posting in the Halfbakery catagory. I realize that this is a violation of that suggestion, but I felt like I had to say something to put my anti-fans and I on level ground.)

Khrelnik's Halfbakery Newbie Idea Posting Rules http://krelnik.home...g.com/half_faq.html
The title is long enough to serve as a description, rendering this sentance useless. [notmarkflynn, Dec 20 2005]

applause! welcome nmf. no worries, this is mostly a fun place...

where does it say - avoid posting in the Halfbakery catagory?
po, Dec 20 2005

Nice choice of categories - I hadn't seen this one before.
normzone, Dec 20 2005

       Hooray!

Take a breather, wait a while, and think your ideas through. Then post the good and/or funny ones.
DesertFox, Dec 20 2005

It doesn't say it in the Help file, it says it in Krhelnik's FAQ. Sounded like solid reasoning, but rules are meant to be ignored conveniently.
notmarkflynn, Dec 20 2005

I still think everything I say, do, and write is hilarious. That's just scientific. Can't argue with science.
notmarkflynn, Dec 20 2005

That link leads ,to the U.S. Postal Service. Why?
DesertFox, Dec 20 2005

Heh, some people never have this realization. Sorry about the MFD’s -nothing personal - just steering you towards the help file. Welcome, and [+]. Please keep this one around.
Shz, Dec 20 2005

I don't know why, but maybe you should read up on the men and women who assist you daily.

And, uh, I'll look at the link.
notmarkflynn, Dec 20 2005

       :) Nicely done.
Zuzu, Dec 20 2005

Okay, I figured out why the post office stole my link. I'm using a public terminal in a music library, so that's what the person before me had copyed and pasted.

Since I'm used to my friend's Mac laptop, I hit Alt instead of Ctrl to copy, since that's where the Apple Button is on a Mac. This resulted in me copying nothing and pasting something else.

       Well, you screwed up.

Welcome, and good luck. Venomous Puffins have been spotted in the area, we don't want any more "incidents" like we had last year.
AfroAssault, Dec 21 2005

       Oh dear.
bristolz, Dec 21 2005

Since when did this place have rules?

Good for you [nmf]! Nice category choice, too. The HB _is_ fun to be around, honest. The few ideas of yours I read weren't well received, but you did defend them with restraint and humour, which is not something you can say for everyone! I'm sure you'll be a welcome addition to our happy band.

       Good luck!

Hey [IT] - does this mean we'll be going through a period where our ideas are required to be extremely protracted? <goes away cackling>
moomintroll, Dec 21 2005

[nmf] Ha ha, this idea has buns! which ruins your impressive line of fishbones.....
Minimal, Dec 21 2005

Welcome to the club, nmf. That's enough hand-wringing though. On with the 'baking!
DrBob, Dec 21 2005

Your profile page looks hilarious! Doubtless the bones will be watered down by more buns in time. Welcome.
wagster, Dec 21 2005

Judging by all the fishbones you have gotten for previous ideas, I'm worried that you are going to challenge me for my title, which is, ahhh.... ummmm...
pathetic, Dec 21 2005

i remember when i was that young..with balls like watermelons. nostalgic. good on you [nmf].
rainbow, Dec 21 2005

I didn't know watermelons had balls. They must be very small.
Shz, Dec 21 2005

Welcome (not)markflynn. It's nice to see someone being nice. You remind me of how I felt when I was new and anxious.

       what [Unabubba] said.
neilp, Dec 22 2005

       ? //what [Unabubba] said.//

I can't find an anno by UB anywhere on this post.
DesertFox, Dec 22 2005

What the crap is a Venemous Puffin, and where is its weak point? It sounds like I'll need an artifact to kill it.
notmarkflynn, Dec 22 2005

This is kind of embarassing. You guys only like my ideas when they end up in me admitting I'm wrong. Or maybe I'm wrong about that...
notmarkflynn, Dec 22 2005

       Wow, what an excellent anno.
blissmiss, Dec 22 2005

[blissmiss], do you not like to invent? Your profile screen only has a nice quote.
notmarkflynn, Dec 22 2005

actually one of the most inventive people here...
po, Dec 22 2005

       [DrBob] was right. Onwards!
moomintroll, Dec 22 2005

[nmf] I think she likes to delete as much as she likes to invent. Very tao.
Worldgineer, Dec 22 2005
