"Hold My Hand" Hand Warmer

A casting of a loved one's hand that's a battery powered hand warmer.

Just 98.6 degrees but designed to feel like you're holdng their hand. Shaped so it's holding your hand as well.

Maybe give to your child when they go off to college to give some degree of comfort when they go to bed at night. Let them know you're there for them in spirit even if not physically.

Might even have a feature where you give it a squeeze it plays you a recording of the loved one giving words of encouragement. IOr maybe equipped to squeeze your hand back when you squeeze it.

lol! It’d come with instructions not to use it that way.

Sounds quite Addams Family to me.

Oh yea, It. This wouldn’t crawl around though. There’s also The Evil Dead. as a model of what not to do. (Link)

My parents were part of a 'Young Farmer's Association' group in the early 80's. One of the rotating gag gifts that went around Christmastime was this wooden hand glove model thing that had joints you could move around. One day it ended up in my room, on my dresser, in front of the window for some reason. I must've been around 5 or so. Nightmares beyond nightmares. She remembers me asking very politely the next morning, 'can we please move this thing out of my room?'

Well, that sounds like a nightmare. Hadn't thought bout how scary disembodied hands can be. I think that this might be better if the kid getting this was there with the mom during the casting seeing it was actually her hand being modeled. Might bring more comfort than terror.

Better than having a CT scan heart 3D printed and made into a cuddly toy though. Hearts bring an image of love only in their valentine simplified state. Representations of the actual plumbing would bring about more horror than warm cuddly feelings.

Whoa! Missed the prior art link 2 fries, that's very cool.

I know holding hands is a big deal, we don't talk about it much but there's a reason we do it. Like hugs, it's one of the little things that makes life worth living.

I would argue, in defense of the post, that a rubber glove filled with preheated water is not prior art for this.

Thank you kind sir. Yes, I don't see getting much of an emotional bonding moment out of holding a rubber glove full of hot water, but to be fair I've never tried it.

There's always the question of "what to do at the wrist?"
It's nearly Hallowe'en, so bits of bone & dangling flesh would be seasonally fitting, but in real terms, I'm thinking a short length of sleeve (attached to the hand at the cuff) & dangling would work best, hiding the smooth rounded wrist of the hand.
Getting the skin to feel (& look) natural would also be tricky.
Make it slightly poseable too (stiff but adjustable joints).
Hmm... the "squeeze back" idea... when you squeeze a hand, you compress the sides. The sides of the hand could be bladders of fluid, & the compression works small bladders on the fingers to bend them. (It could be done with more rigid levers & cables etc, but I thought "soft" would be better in this context.)
