ever notice that each one of your bank cards and credit cards have different phone numbers to "call if lost or stolen"? and those numbers are conveniently printed on the back of the card so that the good citizens of the world will call and report it found. i guess it only works if it is lost, because what thief would call that number to report it stolen? i know i probably should keep a list of those numbers at home in case i lose my wallet, but i'm willing to bet that i'm not the only person who doesn't. i propose a centralized agency that you call if you have had your wallet stolen or if you have lost it yourself. they would have a list - provided by your credit card companies - of all the phone numbers for each of your accounts. and perhaps you can append that list with other itrems you may need to call about, such as automobile club cards, etc. essentially, it is a centralized database of "who to call if ya lose your stuff". they would have a tollfree number, maybe 1-800-LOST-IDs.

Baked (though I've forgotten the number...)

That's baked (link), however a "lost marble" service could be useful. See someone who lost his/her marbles? Just call 1-800-MARBLES and they send a team to set him/her straight.
