I am guessing a lot of laptop computers get thrown out every year. I am also guessing that most people want flat-screen TFT displays.

Simply get hold of an old laptop screen and plug into a converter that makes it a standard VGA input. Slap it in a case - and there you have it. Recycled electronics and modern.
