The phrase 'crumpled heap' comes to mind.

For injury-prone athletes (football players, skateboarders, motocrossers, etc), I propose a wearable system of telescoping high-carbon steel or graphite-fiber rods & high-tensile cables. This system would attach to an athlete via padded cuffs on either side of a major joint. The rods would provide impact protection, and the cables, on the inside of a joint, would ensure that said joint moves just so far, and no farther. Properly designed & executed, the wearer could lie face-down on two chairs, for instance, suspended only by their toes & forehead, and someone else could walk, even stomp, on the wearer's lower back without causing injury.

As seen on TV http://www.virtuald...sodes/4.01-act4.htm
Max and Logan looked at each other. Logan tried the exoskeleton switch at his hip but nothing happened. [LoriZ, May 18 2010]

With carbon fiber this would probably work. Not sure it's a good idea for some sports, but in others it would work.

No offence, but this makes me think of 'American Football' v 'Football'

More specifically, when do we enter an F1 stage where any player with the budget can buy their way to greatness.
