The classic lawn tender already owns a lawn roller. It is a heavy cylinder pulled behind his tractor, intended, of course, to even out the imperfuctions in his lawn's altitude. But perhaps he has forgotten that to properly display his work, he must fluff his lawn. Hence, the lawn fluffer accesory.

The lawn fluffer accessory is attached to the back of the lawn roller. It consists of two rows of tynes, or fingers attached to rotating arms which actually rotate in opposite directions, so as to lift and seperate the blades of grass into their full upright splendor. The arms are driven by a belt or gear system attached to the wheels of the unit.

The lawn fluffer accessory is adaptable to most major brands of lawn rollers, and is suitable for most popular suburban grasses.

Trying to picture a lawn fluffer. And completely failing.

My understanding was that the roller was to make the grass all lie at the same angle, so that when you mow back and forth you get a pretty stripe pattern, and if you do the full 4-pass mow you get a checkerboard.

and farmers are known for what?

Farmer John is known for his dubious invention ideas, many of which seem to bend the rules of the halfbakery like so many spoons in the hands of a faux psychic.

Whereas Doctor John is known for his New Orleans-style rhythm and blues piano and gravelly singing voice.
