let’s face it, soap is slippery when wet. if the soap had a handle you most likely would not drop it every time you were in the shower. I think the bar soap could be constructed with the handle made of soap and molded that way to be sold.

or there can be a handle that you can insert into a bar of soap or possibly around The bar of soap so you can get a good grip on it.

Either way you won’t be needing to bend over to pick up soap whether you are in the prison showers, the gym or at home!

       If there's no need to bend over, then the handle must be quite long like an umbrella, meaning the soap is used like a phone on the end of a selfie stick?

       ty [poc] we all know soap on a rope exists, so mini soap on a rope is very much the same. This would be a handle hard enough to get a grip on. Not quite like a selfie stick but if you’re really tall I guess that would be great for washing your feet without bending over!

       Well that long handled sponge is pretty close to a soap handle! Did not find that on my search. Thanks

       Although I still would like to see the handle attached directly to the soap!

       Well really I just pictured a handle atop the bar of soap. just a handle like on a cabinet...not like a bath brush...

       My grandfather used to have a sort of semi- rigid plastic mesh enclosure which would hold a bar of soap, or the remnants of several old bars of soap. It made the soap easier to hold, at the cost of mildly scarifying your skin. The product doesn't seem to have caught on.

       I'm now reading this as Soup Handles.

       Sounds like something the Clangers would use ...

       Brilliant. Not the "Soup Handles", the slippery one. (pocmloc, the rope that comes with the soap on a rope thingy grows mildew and becomes like a petri dish after several uses.)

       (kdf, anything that is attached to the soap that doesn't dissolve while being used is a breeding ground for all the lovelies that enjoy moist areas to do such.)

       The brilliance of this idea is the washing away of the dirties while you use it. Anything added to it will collect cooties.

       Damn, he's right ...

       </Muttered aside>

       <Wonders if there's anything else we can get him on/>

       A thick polymer monofilament, or maybe some tubing (sealed at the ends), could replace the rope and wouldn't collect debris in the interstices.

       <completely off topic again>

       When we were still taking loads to the dump I swear to God somebody staying here in the past filled a leather chair with used bars of soap.
They had sliced the seam and filled the back of the chair, (which was strange enough I figured), and they'd cut the flap underneath, placed a plate full of used bars of soap and re-stapled it.

       I don't know what kind of fetish would cause anyone to do something like that, but you just can't make this crap up.

       // filled a leather chair with used bars of soap. //

       Maybe it was a Bath chair ... ?

       Soap/sofa - it's an easy mistake to make for a chair stuffer. They just got confused.
xenzag, Jan 21 2021

       // chair stuffer //

       That sounds like it could so very easily be a euphemism for something disgusting... "I can't stand that bloke, he's a right little chair-stuffer" .... <Obscure but meaningful physical gesture/>

       We just take the littlish remnant bars and fuse them directly to the back of the new bar. As for holding onto the soap, well, that's what washrags are for.
RayfordSteele, Jan 21 2021

       Apologies to kdf, above edited for correctness.

       Might there be a market for a small domestic automated soap-melting-and-casting machine ?

       [8th of 7]; I use a wash-cloth, wrapped around the soap (old + new) & twisted to create the pressure, as hot water provides the heat.
My mother tried an "open casting" method, but it didn't work so well, the "new" soap was all crumbly. I think the compression is the important part.

       As far as a chair full of soap...maybe someone thought it was therapeutic.
