This is not the first time I have complained about the "hookiness" of the web these days. The first time I noticed it was on Twitter where I followed some good people and some A-holes, and I started recognizing that the A-holes would always tweet "hooky" content like, "Wait'll you get a load of this... (link)" or more tastefully, as evidenced in the apparent only way to make money on the internets anymore, a webpage with a good story but that is also full of hooky ads that all say, " 9 Superstars Who Got Their Start in Horror Films, 15 celebrites who believe in bigfoot, 9 Reasons Why Olivia Wilde Is the Best, 10 Places in Portland You Won’t Believe Exist." And I want to know it ALL.

And then you click through to your favorite one, and it is always an economic choice because, regardless of the fact that you are pretty certain you WONT have to actually buy anything or download some malware, you are pretty certain that you WILL have a minimal chance of ever getting back to this page to make the other choices among the lists that you want to see, because by then the browser will have blown up or frozen or your ADD will have taken over or your choices will be burried under multiple apps and webpages, never to be seen again.

So someone has got to come along with an aggregator aggregator, that hacks through the hooky quality of these click-thru farms and just gives you the freaking lists up front in as short bullet points as possible. It could even be a click-through itself, like:

"Tired of clicking thru to all of these bullshit lists? Want to see all of the popular lists given away on one page for free in short bullet points? Just click here. Wait'll you get a load of this...."

Well why not. Let me start right here:

9 Superstars Who Got Their Start in Horror Films

Kevin Bacon - Friday the 13th

George Clooney - Return to Horror High

Tom Hanks - He Knows You’re Alone

Charlize Theron - Children of the Corn III

Johnny Depp - Nightmare on Elm Street

Demi Moore - Parasite

Jamie Lee Curtis - Halloween

Leonardo DiCaprio - Critters 3

Jennifer Aniston - Leprechaun

I always thought that no-one was stupid enough to view websites which link to those kinds of links.

[bigs] you mean a piece of software that automatically does all your stupid browsing for you, while you get offline and go for a walk on the beach, or cook a nice dinner?

SOME of the problem you face can be handled with a right-click of the mouse on a link. Select 'Open in new Tab/Window". Then the list of links remains open in the original tab/window (unless the browser crashes).

       'One weird trick'!

I'd be OK with a browser plugin which rewrote the standard 'clickbait' headlines, thus:

"You're unlikely to be at all surprised by what happened next...!"
"One predictable trick to...!"
"1 celebrity and 9 people you've never heard of who...!"
