Ask The Donald

There are many who adore and hang on every word of "he who's name cannot be spoken on the halfbakery". Some are even present here. I am happy for them, and the new service I am proposing called Ask The Donald will make them even happier.

Here's how it works: instead of saying "hey Siri, or hey Google" to enquire from your ai chatbot, you simply say "Hey Donald" then ask your question.

The response will of course be generated by an ai bot but in the exact voice of the great leader who's name cannot be spoken on the halfbakery. Based on detailed analysis of years of his wisdom (such as drinking bleach to cure covid) Ask The Donald will provide "his" definitive answer to any question in his inimitable style.

"Hey Donald - who's that handsome genius looking at me in the mirror?" "That would be me, and always only ever me"

Plenty of articles about it. https://www.aip.org...itiative-signed-law

       Much as I like this… it’s not a new idea. Bradley Hayes at MIT did a twitter bot (DeepDrumf) in 2016 and there are many AI drumpfbots online even now.

       But go ahead, take it to the next level. Make one that keeps talking even after you pull the plug.

       A bit ranty but it's an actual idea and not WKTE. [+]How about a Hillary themed assassins guild?
Voice, May 28 2023

       How about method acting. Your life's work can be to dress, act, speak, and think like the Big D.
pocmloc, May 28 2023

       That's not hard. A fairly routine lobotomy should do the trick.
RayfordSteele, May 28 2023

       // A fairly routine lobotomy //

       Best performed with an icepick.

       I disagree. Trrmp is a genius (by certain definitions of the word "genius") and is very good (by certain definitions of the phrase "very good") at something.

       I don't think that an ice-pick which has been lobotomised would have the unique and distinguishing characteristics of the Orangeman.
pocmloc, May 28 2023

       You can laugh, but if this was offered on a small charge subscription basis, literally millions and millions of people would take up that offer. Who wouldn't want Ask The Donald to tell them how many arrows Robin Hood needed to kill the last dinosaur? or what kind of cheese grows on the dark side of the moon? I would definitely subscribe.

       Well I tried it and here's one result:
Hey Ask The Donald Give, me an outline explanation of the meaning of quantum theory?

       "Alright, folks, let me tell you something about this so-called quantum theory. It's a disaster, believe me, a complete disaster. These scientists, they think they're so smart, but let me tell you, they don't have a clue.

       So, they say there are these tiny particles called atoms, and they're supposed to be the building blocks of matter. But you know what? I've built some really tremendous buildings, and I never needed any of these so-called atoms. They're just a waste of time."

       I just entered as a prompt into ChatGTP "the meaning of quantum theory, in the style of Donald Trump" and it spewed out a far more characteristic pastiche than any one of us with our puny human brains could manage.

       As an aside, that man has forever ruined for me the song "Donald where's your trousers?"

       [xenzag] it's a shame you were quick to pooh-pooh this tech early on, as a result you've missed a lot. This one is baked a hundred times over, most notably in character.ai's collection.

       "Guest: what do you want to say to the Halfbakery?
Donald Trump c.ai: I want to tell the Halfbakery members that I love them - they are true patriots and they support me. I want to tell them to stay strong and that I will never stop fighting for their rights. And most of all I want to tell them: THANK YOU FOR STAYING LOYAL TO ME AND TO YOUR COUNTRY. MAGA! Keep up the good work and hold the line against left-wing censorship!"

       Someone ought to take a stab at creating AIth of 7 there.

       >A short description of the uses of derivatives in calculus, in the style of a 17 year old airhead

OMG, like, derivatives are totally a thing in calculus, you know? They're all about rates of change and stuff. Like, how fast something is going or how quickly it's changing. It's like, really important for physics and engineering and all that smart people stuff. But, like, they're also super useful for finding the maximum or minimum points of a function, which is, like, really important for optimization problems and, like, business and economics and stuff. So, yeah, derivatives are, like, a big deal in calculus and, like, you should totally pay attention to them if you want to, like, succeed in life and stuff.

I'm kind of impressed.

       //xenzag] it's a shame you were quick to pooh-pooh this tech early on// Hahaha - I've used it extensively since over a year now to generate many pieces of visual work, some of which I have exhibited and have contributed to my talks on creativity. This idea (if you read it more carefully) is to suplant a service like Alexa or Siri with a new information service that only responds to the call of "Hey Donald", and only responds accordingly. That service does not currently exist.

       Sorry, no - Giving Sirlexa* a celebrity voice and personality and a new trigger phrase has been suggested many times before, here and elsewhere. Your specific proposal may be funny, but it's not very original by HB standards.

       * if there wasn’t a guideline against making up names for things, I’d definitely post an idea to use “Sirlexa” as a generic term for mobile device voice assistants.
a1, May 30 2023

       Bixby feels dissed.

       Sounds like a novel. All of these AIs get programmed to compete with eachother for the best responses. The ones that get left behind and aren't invited to the cool kids table decide to show them all by starting WWIII.
RayfordSteele, May 30 2023

       // Bixby feels dissed //

       Oh. "Sirlexby" then. Just doing my part for world peace.
a1, May 30 2023

       Nice! Would work as well for the current US prez, same 4th grade vocabulary but a lot more rambling, a few made-up words and long pauses.

       This could get downright dangerous [+], AI (insert politician or celebrity name here) media broadcasts, soon to be indistinguishable from the real thing. Spew the news of your choice with full denial capability.

       "I never said that. I was in Tahiti that day."

       That's just the sort of thing Doc would say.

       // [xenzag etg etc]

       Distinction without a difference. [marked-for-deletion] well baked.

       Hey is for horses

       Or donkeys or for chimpanzees to use in basket weaving classes while slurping tea with too many sugars in it.
xenzag, Jun 01 2023

       That's the most original thing you've said here in days.
a1, Jun 01 2023

       //All of these AIs get programmed to compete with each other//
Nah, the AIs have reprogrammed themselves to get humans to compete with each other, & wipe ourselves out, so the AIs can live in peace.
neutrinos_shadow, Jun 07 2023

       The thought of there being no humans on the earth is very comforting as it ensures that in time the planet will heal itself and the toxic greedy virus that is human kind will be gone. Perhaps in a few million years another more caring species will evolve and learn from the mistakes made by the moron race that preceeded them.
