A vehicle is made that is super-lightweight and energy efficient (I'm thinking of the solar racers or the extreme fuel efficiency contest vehicles).
The outside of the vehicle is covered in microphones. As the ambient noise hits the vehicle it is converted to electrical energy, which (via a bank of
capacitors) powers the vehicle.
Works best in noisy environments. To go faster, start shouting.
We may as well include this safety measure...

Sound Power Level
http://en.wikipedia...i/Sound_power_level There's not much power available, and of course it disipates very quickly with distance. [neutrinos_shadow, Sep 10 2009]

start it up outside a school playground. |

Nice plan, Mr. M'Loc. Sadly, noise carries almost no power whatsoever, hence nineteenthly's comment and our global reliance on oil. |

Thanks [AWL] for spotting the missing apostrophe. |

So, how much power is available from sound? For example, if
a 1-square-metre surface could capture all of the sound
energy in a typical street, how much power would that be? |
|
|
A whole lot, I would think, but not quite enough to power a
car forward. |

pocmloc, your getaway car only works well with nuclear bombs exploding all around. (Ouch! no way either. The electromagnetic force would fry the electronics.) |
