Cheetah Speed Cameras

Why should they get away with it?

It's been said that Cheetahs can reach speeds in excess of 90Km/h.

This type of activity is dangerous, and might cause accidents.

Placing GATSO or other makes of speed cameras around the plains of Africa might put pay to their inconsiderate behaviour.

And how are you going to cross-reference their identity? (Cue spot-recognition device)
Jinbish, Jun 29 2006

Good point - Bailiffs and Courts should be alerted - or serial numbers indelibly sprayed onto the flanks of each animal.
Dub, Jun 29 2006

what do you fine them? it's not like they use a standard currency.
tcarson, Jun 29 2006

Why, "On the spot" penalty fines - seems straight forward to me...
Jinbish, Jun 29 2006

Regarding cat recognition: There was a campaign by a lion-study team a few years back to get wildlife tourists to send in any photos of a particular bunch of lions. Some clever person had noticed that the pattern of whiskers was different and recognizable. A row of 6, over a row of 5, over a row of 7, or something like that. I-Ching, maybe?

90 kph is only 55-ish mph. That's not fast!
webfishrune, Jun 29 2006

A speed camera that chases you at high speed would be cool.
skinflaps, Jun 29 2006

       Fine them in gazelles.
wagster, Jun 29 2006

good cheetahs always win and seldom get caught.
xenzag, Jun 29 2006

Its jaguars that seem to be more of a problem at Zebra crossings..

//A speed camera that chases you at high speed would be cool.//

Thats what I thought the idea would be from the title. Cameras mounted on cheetas that photograph from a pursuit position.
webfishrune, Jun 29 2006

if webfishrune's idea was the idea then I would throw a bun at it.
gootyam, Jun 29 2006

Enforcer: You were going a little fast at that last zebra crossing .. I'm afraid I'm going to have to write you a ticket ..

       Cheetah: *stares menacingly*

*sound of screams and flesh rending*
kuupuuluu, Jun 29 2006

Sounds to me like they ought to fine the gazelle for entrapment
coprocephalous, Jun 29 2006

[gootyam] Well, boo-sucks! Turns out it's elephants that like buns, not Cheetahs!

... Actually, I prefer [webfishrune]'s idea more, too
Dub, Jun 29 2006

pure unadulterated custardy-goodness, plus-deserving, bun attractive-nesivity, unconcentrated hb wonderfulness!

       er, I quite like this.
po, Jun 29 2006

       Aw, thanks [po]

[webfishrune] Can you run faster than 55mph?... Also, I did say //In excess of//, so they might make it to 70mph... in a built-up area, and near schools, and all!
Dub, Jun 29 2006

In the crowded courtroom, the video played on a large high-definition television. As seen from the cheetah's point of view, the back of the car grew larger. In the corner of the display, the speed of the big cat was displayed to the nearest one hundredth of a mile per hour.

When the car exceeded the cat's top speed and began to pull away, the jury growled.
normzone, Jun 29 2006

Actually, they will get away with it, since they are cheatahs.

I hate it when gags get repeated.
