So I'm at the store, and I'm trying to remember what I'm supposed to bring to a friend's Canada Day party. Now, if I were clever, I would have my mail stored on an IMAP server, so I could access it it through my phone's web service. But I don't have an IMAP server. And have you tried using a WAP/HDML application? So, I'd like to call a number, which transcribes a query: "party at brad's saturday", searches the email folder for a likely match, and reads the email back to me.

Baked if you have a yahoo.com address. You can pull mail from your other POP accounts too. [waugsqueke, Jul 02 2002]

This is certainly technically possible, but not baked yet as far as I know.

Could be an adjunct to those live pager services, where people answer a phone number & pretend you have an office, meanwhile paging you. They could have your emails routed to them (or echoed to them) senabling them to offer an extra service. Very bakable. Wonder how much they wd charge to be a live spam filter?

If you were clever, you would remember what you're supposed to bring in the first place.

DrCurry: "Clever" and "Organised" are not synonymous ....

If you were clever, you'd call your friend.

very baked... several phone and email companies already do this.

Email text to speech, yes. Automated searching in a person's e-mail, not really.

I guess we al have Palms and Blackberries now, but voice technology has caught up to this, for your car if not your telephone (see link).

That link is scary, DrC. I can think of nothing worse than being able to receive emails whilst driving.
